Some of the folks working on the new Nashville Celts record include: Lt to Rt Matt Menefee (Bruce Hornsby, Mumford & Sons) ric blair (lead vocals, guitar, piano, bodhran) Natalya Kay (Gaelic Storm), Sammi Potts (Peter Frampton, Ricky Skaggs etc.), Maggie Lander (lead vocals, fiddle, guitar) Fiachra O’Regan (Bill Whelan, Waterboys), Byron House (Robert Plant, Alison Krause, Nickel Creek) and (not shown in picture) Jeff Taylor, (Elvis Costello, Bob Dylan, The Time Jumpers, Vince Gill), and Patrick D'Arcy (Sting, Bono, Josh Groban).
Drawing from Celtic and Nashville roots, this second record is merging the genres of Irish music with organic American country. Mostly original vocal music except for a couple fiery Irish trad tunes thrown in, The Nashville Celts draft some of the best musicians in Nashville and Ireland. Banjo, mandolin, dobro, fiddles, accordion, pipes, Irish whistles, piano, Hammond B3, stand-bass, drums, and vocals.
But, it is all about the songs. The core of the band are lead singers Maggie Lander and Ric Blair who are the main songwriters. Maggie and Ric's songs are reminescent of artists like Jackson Browne, Bob Dylan, and Linda Ronstadt yet with a style of their own mixing Irish and California Country instrumentation. The lyrics were inspired by the difficult times that America has been enduring during the pandemic.
